Default Can't I ever catch a break?

As if the ongoing vomiting issue weren't enough Nico has a runny nose now. For the last couple of days I've heard sounds like maybe her little nose was a bit clogged, but I would only hear it briefly and then it would be gone. She didn't seem to be licking her nose excessively, but her food intake has dropped a little bit. Finally last night right before I put her away I started to see a drippy nose. So now we have a vet appointment for Wednesday. My husband gets to take her this time.

I've bumped up her thermostat just a touch, is there anything else I should do in the mean time?

Is she on fleece? If she is not, that might give her some comfort.

I'm sorry about all the things your little one has been through. I hope everything goes well.

Yep, she's on fleece. Hopefully we caught this early enough that it will be a quick round of meds. I just wish I could make her feel better.

Good! I hope so too. With her past issues, make sure to ask for something to help her tummy. If she is given antibiotics.

Update and question:

Nico reportedly did very well at the vet today. She actually let the vet feel around and listen to her with a stethoscope. Much better than last time

Anyway, we were given a round of antibiotics, but told that she should be just fine unless the runny nose mucous changes colors.

Now, my question: I just gave her a dose of the medication and she promptly anointed with it. Do I need to give her more or just keep with the dosing schedule? I'm not sure how much of it wound up on her quills and how much she actually swallowed.

Yay, I'm glad Nico did well at the vet! I hope she's on the road to feeling better

As for your question, I wish i had the experience with meds to answer but I don't. Hopefully this will bump up and someone can give you input. Maybe it will depend on the type of meds prescribed, some are easier to over dose then others.

Have you had to do another dose yet? I hope she takes it for you, if not maybe it's time to sit down and have a talk with her

Well, thankfully she likes her meds in the evenings. She'd swallow the whole syringe if I let her. In the morning if I'm fast I can get it into her before she's awake enough to protest. She did fine this morning. I ended up not giving her anymore last night. Figured it was best to not give her too much on accident. I'm sure at least a little got into her system. And she'll be due for another dose her pretty shortly. Hopefully she got the anointing with her meds out of her system.
