Default Vet Visit

I finally got Wonton to the vet because her breathing started to scare me (the super strange deep breathing/sighing I mentioned before) because it became more frequent. One night, it even sounded like an asthma attack (not literally, but it seems like she couldn't breathe).

However, I need to reiterate that it seems to only happen when she is sleeping.

The vet said it could be a throat tumour (doubt it because her appetite did not decline and neither did she look like she has trouble eating)

Anyway, the vet couldn't get a look inside her mouth to confirm because Wonton is being super stubborn and he said he does not want to sedate her.

I asked if it could be a possible URI. He said it could be the early stages of it. Nonetheless, he used a stethoscope to check her lungs (breathing) and he said she seems to be fine and healthy.

He prescribed antibiotics, just in case it is an URI. He gave me Chlor Pam Liquid.

Now, my question is -after this super long post, sorry haha- is it really a good idea to give her the antibiotics? Is it alright for her to take antibiotics if she actually does not have an URI? (He mentioned that it could just be her snoring...which I did not think of, haha)

Thanks!

I don't think it will hurt her to take the antibiotics, and if nothing else it will narrow down the possibility of what it is. Can you get a recording of the noise?

Okay then, I'll go ahead and syringe feed her the antibiotics. How do you properly syringe feed anyways? Maybe I should stick with slathering them on her mealies, haha. Honestly don't want to see her choke or something if I force it

I can try getting a recording of her "snores"! But she is really sensitive to sound even when she is sleeping. I will have to go into stealth mode -nod-

There's a tutorial video here - https://www.hedgehogcentral.com/forum...ng-sticky.html It'd probably be best to give it to her directly if at all possible to make sure she's getting the full dose. Just make sure you have the syringe angled a little bit, not pointed directly at the back of her throat, to avoid having her choke. If she doesn't like the taste, you can mix it with some chicken or turkey baby food. Suck up the dose first, then a bit of baby food, then gently shake the syringe a bit to mix them.

Thanks for the sticky feed and suggestion, Lilysmommy!

Update on Wonton:
I got the chance to feed her the antibiotics today when I got home. I bought her baby food just in case she puts up a fight and is resistant. When I opened the little bottle to fill up the syringe, I found out that the antibiotics smells like vanilla! I think it's vanilla flavoured, but I didn't think it was suitable for me to actually taste-test it, haha. I thought syringe feeding would be hard! But Wonton was being a really good girl and took it like a man...And even proceeded to annoint herself afterwards. I guess she really liked her meds! Haha.
