Default Whistling sound when breathing

Hi,

My hedgehog Roscoe has been breathing strangely for the last day and a half. It sounds like a deflating balloon each time he breathes.

I am really worried, please help.

Thank you

If it is all the time, I'd guess some sort of respiratory infection, and go for a vet-visit. From reading the archives, hedgehogs with respiratory illnesses respond well to treatment, but go downhill fast without it, so I'd suggest going to the vet as soon as possible to avoid weekend/emergency charges.

If it's just sometimes, it could be the happy-exploring whistle or a sleepy whistle, like this:

Agreed with Annie - if it's a constant thing, get him into the vet this week. URIs can turn into pneumonia without treatment, so the faster he gets started on antibiotics, the easier getting rid of it will be.
