Default How Much Sneezing is Too Much?

I know I'm posting a lot of health questions but I'm worried. Sonic's been sneezing between 1-3 times a night and he licks his nose alot. I don't see his nose dripping. I have been using scented laundry detergent, about a tablespoon. When I do get some money next month I plan on buying an unscented brand. Could the scent be bothering him and making him sneeze?

It could be. Do you have vinegar? You can use that instead of detergent to wash the liners until you get some unscented detergent, and see if it solves the sneezing.

Good Idea. I'll try it this weekend, thanks

Bad News, I think Sonic probably has a URI. His sneezing has increased and he is acting lethargic. I also think I hear him wheezing. The soonest I can get him to the vet would be on Wednesday. Is there anything I can do for him until then?

Keep him warm, and make sure he keeps eating. A lot of times with URIs, they can eat less or stop eating since they can't smell or taste their food. Glad you're getting him to the vet, and good luck! Let us know how it goes. Hope he feels better soon.

Ok I got back from the vet. He does not have a URI. She said his breathing is fine and he looks completely healthy. I'm wondering now could I have confused the sneezing with a different sound hedgehogs make? Also could he be acting a little lethargic because maybe he is bored? He still eats, drinks, runs on his wheel, and when I take him out he is very active.

Hmm, had you taken Sonic outside just before you noticed sneezing? I'm not sure if hedgehogs can have actual allergies, but when I took Pig outside for his b-day photo shoot he immediately stuck his face in all the flowers and sneezed a few times.

Have you noticed whether he's burrowing or something when he sneezes? Sometimes when Pig is doing hardcore exploring he'll try to budge something out of the way with his nose and make this *SNORF* sound.

It's also possible he could be lethargic due to the heat.

But if he's still showing symptoms of a URI, keep close watch on him. Hope he feels better!

I have taken him outside but I don't let him roam on the ground. I hold him in my hand in his blanket while we take a walk. But maybe he may have smelled something in the air.

He was digging around his fleece one time when I heard the sound. Maybe he was shoving fleece away.

Your right, It could be from the heat. My room is small and it does tend to hold the heat in.

I will still be keeping an eye on him to make sure he isn't showing signs of it.
