Default Pneumonia or tumor

Hello All,

I recently noticed that my hedgy has been acting weird the last couple days. Jack is a generally a very healthy active guy. He is 3 and never had any issues. Well we moved to CO 2 years ago. Recently moved into our house that he is in currently. This house stays a little chilly so as soon as it got cold we started keeping the heater on all the time in the room. We have his cage set by the window for natural lighting and to get the day and night sensation, but I'm wondering if he got cold and that's how he got pneumonia. When I found him Thursday he was laying out on his belly breathing really hard.. I got an emergency visit at the vet and he said it could be pneumonia or a tumor.. I had enough to get antibiotics and such but not enough to do xrays and all that such. Here we are Saturday morning. Ive been giving baytril and an anti inflammatory for meds and we've been force giving him pedialyte and cat food broth mixes, he doesn't want to eat drink or do anything. Since his visit on Friday the breathing has gotten a little better. Without an xray does anyone have any ideas on if he's going to get better or if he's got a tumor and need to be put out of his misery. We love him dearly and would appreciate any help!

Sunlight lighting isn't enough. You need to use artificial light like a table lamp or ceiling lamp for 12-14 hours daily. If your hedgie is off from normal you did the right choice by seeking the vet. I would try to seek another exotic vet to get a second opinion on what's going on.
