Default Pneumonia

I've had my hedgie Shadow for over three years now with her turning four this summer and in December she seems to have caught an infection. She started sniffling and making noises so I brought her in to the vet and he instructed me to give her a medicine. About a week later she didn't show improvement and began to gasp for breath on her sides or back. I took her in again and he placed her in an oxygen tank and gave her a shot. I was told to give her new medication and a puffer. I did as instructed and her wheezing has stopped but she still makes noises and has bubbles/ a runny nose. On her back she still cannot breathe and is not remotely as active as she once was as she no longer can move her hind legs. She doesn't eat or drink and even spits out what I syringe feed her. I know another vet visit might be necessary but it is pricey for me to go so soon. I was wondering if there are methods I could try at home to help her.

Not really, no. This is vet territory. Before taking her back in, call the vet and update them on how she's doing. They vet may have something else he'd like to try and may not require you to bring her in again. Good communication is key. I spent a lot of time playing phone tag with my vet leading up to spaying her due to a mass found in her uterus. Saved both of us a lot of time by simply calling her and letting her know when treatment wasn't working as planned.
