Default Runny nose and strange breathing

Hi guys,
My hedgehog has runny nose from about a month! I took him to the vet maybe the 2nd day after i noticed he frequently licks his nose so the vet said it's an URI and gave him antibiotics for 6 days. After that my hedgie wasn't completely good, so the vet changed the antibiotics for another 7 days and started vitamins too. Then my baby boy started getting worse, so the vet gave him the first antibiotics for 7 more days and last saturday told me to stop the antibiotics and continue only with vit c. But yesterday i heard strange breathing sounds from his cage and today when i woke him up again, so i am really worried. ~
Why my baby isn't getting better? Is this really an URI?

P.S. he sleeps on small pet litter (i'm not sure if this is right), in the room is 22-25 C

Can you link the type of bedding you're using so we can see?

Where is his cage in the room? Do you have a thermometer in the cage or are you just going by room temperature? The temp can vary widely based on where the cage is - as an example, one of my hedgehog is in a cage on the floor. One corner of her cage is always a couple degrees cooler than the rest of the cage. Her cage is also a couple degrees cooler than her sister's cage, set on top of hers, due to the heat rising. So you want to know what the temperature is in the cage. I would also try to bump that low temperature up a little - 22C is on the cold side for most hedgehogs.

Has the vet done any kind of culture & sensitivity test to see if there's a specific antibiotic that may target the infection better? That sounds like it would be a good next step.

The cage is on my desk now, it uset to be on the floor, but there was cooler, so i moved it.

I have thermometer in the cage, but i live in eastern europe, here is winter now and it's a bit cold, so i'm trying my best to keep the room temperature between 22 and 25C. What is the best temperature? And my hedgie sometimes is sleeping in the other corner of his cage ( he has a wooden house, where he sleeps generally) is this because there is warmer?

In the morning i'm gonna call the vet and ask him to do that kind of test. Thank you for the response!

Just a little bump would be fine, 23-25 or 24-26. I understand the struggle to keep them warm in the winter! I have a heat lamp in my lower girl's cage, plus a space heater for my room.

Do you know what kind of wood the bedding is made from? I can't quite tell from the picture. If you want to rule out a potential developed allergy to the bedding, you could try using fleece for a week or so & see if it helps at all. Just make sure you use scent-free detergent.

The vet said my boy is doing well and for now he'll be on vitamins only.
I will call him on friday and if the situation is the same he'll do that test and we'll start the antibiotics again
