Default Concerned about my hedgie.

Hello,

I'm new here. My name is Ava and I have a hedgie named Cindy.

What brought me here is I have a concern about my hedgehog's health. She is all curled up in a ball and wont come out. She also is hissing at me more than usual when I wake her up. She wont come out of the ball, which is unusual because she likes to explore and is well mannered. I think it might have to do with the kid I work with. He had some sort of throat virus that kept him out of school for 3 days. And when I came over to work with him he had a mask on. He was up in her face a lot and coughing on her. I read that human viruses can't affect hedgehogs but that was only with the common cold. I think the kid I work with had something more intense than a cold.

Also the kid dropped her on accident. She seemed fine when I picked her up though.

How does stress effect hedgehog's health? Could it be that a new environment and too much stimulus stressed her out?

I love my quill child and I don't want anything bad to happen to her. I would greatly appreciate any answers or advice.

Thanks,

A few questions first.

a) What temperature is her cage? Do you have a heating set up?

b) Does she get 12-14 hours of light during the day?

c) How long ago was she dropped? And how far was she dropped & how did she land?

Honestly, with being dropped, I'd get her into the vet ASAP (today if at all possible) to get checked out. Major behavior changes are a concern anyway, and that paired with a fall is even more concerning. Is she eating, drinking, and wheeling normally?
