Default Just a cold??

I'm not sure if hedgies can get "just a cold" that will pass on its own or not. I noticed today pippin is making some squeaky sounds when he breathes (which was always an indicator of a URI when I had pet rats, not sure if the same is true) and he sneezed a couple times. He doesn't seem to have discharge from his eyes or nose, he's still energetic, eating, drinking and pooping normal. I did notice he was licking his lips a lot but his tongue never seemed to contact his nose, just either side of his mouth. I will monitor him for changes and contact vets on Monday when they open if need be, but as I've never owned a hedgehog before I'd like to know if that's necessary or not first, obviously I don't want to leave it if it will turn into pneumonia.

He is on fleece liners so I'm not thinking allergies. Thanks everyone

In hedgehogs any signs of a URI needs to be checked by a vet. Hedgehogs don't get better on their own from colds, if left untreated it will most likely turn into pneumonia which can be hard to treat. I would make a vet appointment to get him checked out.

Unhappy Hedgehog Runny Nose!!

This is my first time owning a hedgehog, Henry is 6 months old. Tonight when I got him out to play I noticed some cloudy boogers on his nose and his nose is also runny. The room where I kept him has been a bit on the colder side this week but I figured it was Spring and he would be okay!

I am just wondering if I should take him to the vet in the morning?? Symptoms of a URI?
He is not sneezing (yet), or breathing heavily but has licked his nose a few times since I got him out. He is eating a bit, and drinking. I usually sleep through him running around at night and he sleeps all day until 2 or 3 am usually. I feel awful because I cant tell if he is acting any different!

Please Help!

The nose bubbles/boogers are a sign of a URI, unfortunately, as is the constant nose-licking. I would schedule an appointment based on those symptoms. URIs can go very bad very quickly, but can usually be stopped fairly quickly in the early stages with an antibiotic.
