So my hedgie had gone to the vet for an open wound which is currently healing and all is going well.

Tonight I was about to give her the last dose of her medicine for the day. I had to feed her painkiller 3-4 times a day orally. So as I turn her on her back, I was about to give the first drop and then she suddenly vomits! I turn her back on her feet to let her finish. I then wipe her mouth and put her down and let her chill and her favorite corner.

She was gagging abit after I let her down. I don't know how to really explain it but it was like she was gagging? (Like when a cat is about to spit a furball). I hear her like licking her mouth and all but i don't know.

I'm afraid that there is something stuck at the back of her throat or if it's just too much medicine/ hates the medicine. But it's been like almost two weeks and it's the first time this has happened?

She is sitting in her corner now and usually she relaxes and sleeps but her quills are raised and she seems abit disturbed? I'm not too sure. Usually she is calm and chill around me but right now I'm not too sure. And she is breathing really loudly, like "HUFF, HUFF, HUFF"

Please help, I need advice.

Just wanted to explain the gagging part a little better. She would ball get into the corner and her quills will be standing (which is unusual for her as she does this every other day relaxed). She lays down, quills still up and she rolls into a ball and starts puffing really really hard? And it goes on for like 45s and then she unballs but still seems very disturbed. I'm not sure if dry-heaving is the word but I really wish I could pin a video to this.

What kind of medicine is she taking? I know from experience that a portion of animal painkillers can cause nausea and vomiting as side effects. It's possible that what she's experiencing is just discomfort from the meds. I would call the vet if I were you to discuss the symptoms she's experiencing and come up with a solution. It's probably a good idea to make an appointment and check that there's nothing else going on that you can't see. Personally, I would discontinue giving her more doses in the meantime, as the meds could be causing her more discomfort than it's worth.

Thank you so much for that information. She was given calcium(liquid form), painkiller mixed with multi vitamins(liquid form) and iodine to apply on the wound. Its currently midnight here so I can't really call the doctor, and I leave for school tomorrow at 6am, which the vet is still closed at this time. I usually feed her painkillers before I leave so she can walk around without being in pain. I really want to discontinue it but my mom wants me to try and give her the medicine tomorrow. I'm just afraid she vomits again ):
