I think my hedgehog is hibernating. We went away for a Christmas and had our neighbors feed her. We couldn’t bring her, but she had food and water. I didn’t realize that my mom had turned down the themorstat to 60, which I know is way too low for hedgehogs. When I got home today I went to check on her and she is curled up into a tight ball. I have her in my lap currently and she is slowly uncurling, but her eyes are still closed. I have a heater on low near us to help warm her up. What do I do?!? I’m terrified that she’s not going to uncurl all the way, or that it’s too late. Please help!

Place her against your chest and cover her and you with a blanket. She needs to be warmed up slowly. You probably will need to keep her cage warmer from now on as once they try to hibernate they are more likely to do it again. What type of heating set up do you have?
