Hello,
So I've been reading that a light source other than the natural light from the windows in the room is necessary for 12 to 14 hrs a day. This would be during the daytime, correct? If he just wants to sleep under his pile of fleece all day, is that light really having any kind of impact for him? Seems odd to me. He seems to just hide from light anyway, so im confused as to why hed need light during a time that hes sleeping/burrowed anyway. Am I misunderstanding something? Thanks! |

Yup, they still know the light is there - think about when you have shades over the window, have your head buried under a blanket, etc. to sleep. If you shift around in your sleep, you typically get flashes of light through the blanket or if you find an open spot in it or whatever. They need to have sufficient light to know it's there & have the confirmation that days are 12-14 hours, which means summer & prevents hibernation.
