Exclamation Please help! Hibernation Problems

Hey everyone, I might get a hedgehog soon and I know they can easily fall into hibernation. Poor guys. Anyways, my house at night during wintertime is only 17 degrees Celsius, when it should be 20. Can I use a heat pad or anything else? Please help, this is urgent.

Oh and by heat pad I mean like the reptile one, like Zoo Med or similar.

heating pad can result to burn your hedgehog feets. You should think about a ceramic heating emitter with a thermostat. you can go here to have more info: https://www.hedgehogcentral.com/forum...implified.html

You will need to keep the cage warmer than 20C at all times. 20C is only 68F and they need to be kept between 73-78F so that is 23-26C. Heating pads aren't safe as mentioned before so a CHE is your best option. If your house drops down to 17C (68F) at night you will probably also need a space heater as a CHE can only bump the temperature a few degrees, not 7-10 degrees.
Lilysmommy and octopushedge like this.

20 degrees is way too cold for a hedgehog. Remember that they are desert animals. I wouldn't even bring a hedgehog into your house unless you have a proper heating system set up.
