Hey Guys,
I just came back from a two weeks trip and now I'm back home reuniting with my hedgie Harry. He doesn't fuss at me alot like he used to but he is losing alot of quills...usually about five or six at the time. Also It's November and my mother has kicked on the heat so I keep him next to the window and I keep the ceiling fan on at all times to keep his cage at appropriate temperature. ALSO!!!! I have a cat that tries to get in his cage with him and I think she's agitating him....Could all these reasons by the reason why he's losing his quills so much (me being away for two weeks, change of weather, and the cat)? All answers welcome... ![]() |

You need a thermometer in his cage so you know the exact temperature, not the temperature of the room.
Hedgehogs are prey animals and if a cat is trying to get him I would think he would be terribly scared. Poor little guy. Do you have a lighting schedule--he needs light so he knows when to sleep. You say the cage is by a window, if he getting direct sun, it maybe causing temperature fluctuations which could be stressing him. |
