Unhappy Dry Skin, Quill loss but no mites

So Mr. Murloc is at it again with the quill loss! He was treated for mites and has since recovered. Recently he has been losing A TON of quills, i feel like just looking at him causes them to fall off! He isn't scratching or showing signs of discomfort like he did when he had mites. He is eating, drinking and pooping normally. I have been giving him some flaxseed oil to help.

I read that new food can cause hedgies to have a reaction and lose quills. I started feeding him royal canin light 40, could that have caused this? or should i take him to the vet?

How long ago what he treated for mites? If it was recently it could just be quills that were damaged from the mites are still falling out. Can you see new quills coming in?

His last treatment was in the beginning of June, I read and was told by the vet that Murloc would still have quill loss to get rid of damaged quill and he had quill loss for a short time after than it stopped and I could see new quills coming in so I wasn't worried but now i have no idea what it could be. Is it possible that he is still recovering from the mites?

I have a hedgie doing the exact same thing, she had mites and they seemed to be cleared up with a couple rounds of revolution, but she's still losing quills by the bucket full. Does anyone know any other causes of quill loss, besides fungal and mites?

I'm planning on just taking him to the vet, he seems in perfect health aside from the quills and skin and I'm just not sure what else I can do for the little guy!
