Default 2 Year Old Hedgehog Loosing Quills & Hair

My albino hedgehog is about 2 years old - when we got him in August the owner said he was about 1 year old. We recently (about 3 weeks ago) moved him into our new apartment. Everything seemed to be going fine until recently. For the last few days he has been loosing quills and hair. All of the quills that he looses has bulbs on them. He has an okay diet - eats just hedgehog food - and runs a pretty good amount on his wheel (its always a mess when I wake up) ... his poop is normal and he hasn't been obsessively scratching around me. Not sure what this could be but I'm concerned! Help?

I'm not sure where you live, but I know in Canada the food branded as Hedgehog food is really not good. A cat or kitten food is usually better.
It could be possible that he might have some nutritional deficits if he has been eating only hedgehog food. Do you give him mealworms or anything else?
Are his ears crusty?
Does he have actual bald patches? Its normal for hedgies to lose some quills, but it isn't normal to have a bald patch. The only time I've had a hedgehog lose quills was when she had ringworm.
Just some ideas.

It sounds like a stress related quilling from your move to the new house. The time frame certainly is consistent with stress. As long as he is eating and active not scratching and normal otherwise, I wouldn't worry, at least not at this point in time.

He doesn't have any bald patches...but he just started loosing quills about a week ago - 5 or 6 a night. A few days ago we gave him a bath in Aveeno oatmeal and we took him to sleep in a room that doesn't have the AC blowing in it in case it was due to dry skin and he didn't loose any that night, then he lost one the next, and then last night he lost 5 again. Not sure if there is any correlation.
I've only been feeding him hedgehog food - Nutrient Rich Hedgehog Diet - he is really picky and doesn't like worms or fruit, except for watermelon. His ears don't seem to be crusty at all.
Just trying to prevent this problem from getting serious!
