Default He's loosing so many quills! is it quilling or mites?

My hedgie is 13 weeks old, almost 14.
He's loosing so many quills all the time like even if I pick him up in one of my tshirts he'll drop a few, and theyre everywhere in his cage.
The parts where I can see skin is on his back, but I've looked and cant seem to see any new quills coming through.
His skin looks pink and healthy, it doesnt even look dry..ive never really seen him itching either, probably once.

Do you think this is quilling or mites? and how can I help him? He really hates baths.

At that age he can definitely be quilling, and quilling can cause a huge amount of quills to be lost. Sometimes the main loss will be a few days or even a week before the quills are visible coming through - just had that happen with a 9-month-old, she was losing hundreds. If you see actual bald patches, then it might be mites, but if you're using fabric/fleece liners and there's nothing wooden in the cage, mites are unlikely. A lot of hedgehogs, especially while quilling, will have patches of skin visible when their quills are raised, which isn't the same as balding patches mites would cause. A photo would help to determine which it is.
