Default Quilling or mites?

My hedgie is almost 10 weeks old now, and has been quilling for the last few weeks. I have been religiously checking every quill he loses, and they all have the tiny ball on the end, but yesterday I found a much larger adult quill in his cage (still with the ball on the end) which made me a bit worried. He is scratching quite a lot, more so when he first wakes up and is in his cage. When he is out and roaming about he doesnt scratch at all really, but in his cage it is very often. I tried to do the trick with the black cloth to check for mites, but he doesnt like to sit still so it didnt work very well! Otherwise he seems fine, is eating drinking and pooping normally, and has a great temperament.
He does have a wooden house in his cage so I am a bit worried about mites and am not entirely sure what is 'normal' quilling behaviour vs mites, do you think I need to take him to the vet? Are there any other symptoms for mites I should look out for?

When they quill its normal that their skin dry a lot, thats why people recommend to maintain their skin hydrated, there are different ways to keep them like this, my favorite is oatmel bath, you should try it.
I dont believe he has mites, but if you afraid of it, you can try the vet.
I hope this help!
