White quills?

Hi my boy has been quilling for the past week or so and I noticed that they are all white! He is nine wks old so i figured its definitely quilling. He's a salt and pepper (or so i was told) but only about 5/20 of the quills that have fallen out are banded, the quills on his back look like they have the right amount of colour. Is this normal? I'm also starting to doubt if he really is a salt and pepper

It's very unlikely he's a Salt and Pepper, they are one of the rarest colour of hedgehog. Once he is done quilling you can post a picture and then we can see what colour he is. Colour can't accurately be determined until after the 9 week quilling.

I never realised salt and pepper was the rarest colour, here in Japan it seems to be the 'standard' colour they sell in our exoctic petstore (so I think? They are just black and white), they are the cheapest. Then cinnamon (which they also label for Browns and anything inbetween!), albinos and pintos are all at least $50 more. Im not sure how clued up they are here as our boy was labelled a cinnamon and he's clearly not looking at the colour chart on here. He has the blue sclera around his eyes and looks more like a brown but his quills have turned a darker brown as he's gotten older, (we purchased him at 4.5 months old...) Anyways, it's just interesting to hear salt and peppers are rare, I never realised
Can I ask what the most common colour is, is it brown? Lol ><

The ones that most people call Salt and Pepper are actually just Grey's. Grey and dark grey are the most common colour and those are the ones that people mistakenly call salt and pepper.

Thank you. Too bad he isn't a salt and pepper it doesn't matter too much to me just thought it was interesting. Will definitely post pics of him after quilling so we know what colour he really is! I'm leaning towards algerian dark grey as he does have obvious check patches but they aren't quite as light as the algerian grey.
