Just got back from the vet and found out he does in fact have mites and she suspects they are from the breeder. My last question, that i forgot to ask the breeder is can they (the mites) be transfered to humans, like can they nest in human hair for example, my room mate noticed she has some dandruff and is a bit itchy (she hasn't gotten dandruff in years) could this be mites? or do they in fact not transfer over to humans.

The mites are likely species-specific and won't transfer to humans, so it shouldn't be an issue. I remember having mites crawling on my shirt once after handling a pet store hedgie with a bad mite infestation, but changed clothes & showered when I got home and they didn't stick around.

Thanks- both my room mate and i are a bit stressed about the situation! Bruce is our first hedgie, and we want to give him the best life, we also want to make sure we aren't going to get infected with anything!
