Default My vet has a request regarding ivermectin

My veterinarian and I discussed ivermectin today and she said that the information on hedgehogs is still so new that it's really important for anecdotal evidence to be turned in to the authors of the most highly used book so that they can update their information in the next edition.

She said this is the book they use, the 2012 version, and that it states that ivermectin is safe, so if there are cases where it's causing death, it's really important for that to be updated. She has no problem using revolution and knows that her colleague's daughter is in vet school and says that they are really recommending revolution for most pets now. She really thought it was important for the authors of this guide to know the hedgehog community's findings.

This is the book they use, even though hedgies don't really fall into any of those categories. Who should we contact to get these stories submitted to these guys?

Here's a couple links to some reactions. There are more and there used to be many on CnQ. If you search on all the hedgehog forums you will most likely find more. It would be wonderful if vets would quit pushing ivermectin, especially injecting it. Using it topically is safer, but still not as safe as Revolution.
