Default How Long does it take?

Does anyone know how long it takes to completely rid of mites? We took Q to the vet at the end of December... she’s had 2 treatments, the mites appeared to have gone away and now they are back again (really dry and flakey skin... it’s all over me when I hold her. We can also mites on her quills, when using a flash light). I know they may eggs and those eggs hatch... but is there any kind of ball park number of weeks it takes to get rid of them?

Is she being reinfested from her enviroment? Her pen should be completely cleaned and sanitized. All fleese washed in very hot water, toys, food and water bowls, wheel, hides, anything she contacts washed in hot water or put in plastic bags and put in frezzer for a couple of days to kill all bugs and their eggs.

What kind of bedding are you using? Bedding can bring in mites as well. Also if there is anything wooden in the cage you'll have to throw it out.

Her bedding is fleece fabric. I wash it every other day and wash out her cage, food bowl, wheel, house and water... i also make sure everything is clean/replaced before putting her back in her cage after treatment. Everything in her cage is either plastic or ceramic.
I haven’t frozen her food. I will do that today.

What about any thing she contacts during bonding time ? Blankets, pillows, out of pen toys, just another idea.

I’ve been pretty diligent in my cleaning. She’s looking better today. It must’ve just been some newly hatched eggs.

Yea thats the problem with parasites they can be very tough to totally get rid of. The life cycle of them is so that they don't go extinct! Miss a couple eggs some hidden place and bam their back. By the time the medicine wears off new ones hatch.
