Pig's alone all day while I'm at work and he's just fine. He's probably glad when I leave because otherwise I just squish him all day. If I'm having a bad week or super stressed out I'll take him to work with me. He's such a good stress relief when I'm under a deadline!

You've only had her for four days, so give her more time. It can take weeks, even months, for hedgies to really calm down and be snuggly. Often they're still pretty grumpy when first woken up, no matter what. I really do encourage you to read the book as soon as you can - like I said, it'll answer most of your questions. There's a behavior section in it too.

Patience. Don't pester her or try to force her to hold still or play or cuddle. It may overwhelm her and stress her out. When you handle her just let her do her own thing at her own pace. If she wants to sniff around and explore, go ahead and let her. If she wants to hide under a blanket, let her. Have you been handling her a lot today? She may just be tired from being woken up a lot.

It may take a couple days, it may take a few weeks. She's probably also getting used to having cats around - even if they don't bother her, she could still smell them. Just keep being patient, gentle, and consistent with her.

Wouldn't let you? She's the size of a baseball (roughly) pick her up and put her in your lap lol. If you let them get away with their grumpiness they will realize that if they "throw a fit" they end up getting left alone and will continue to do it. Don't reward bad behavior.
