Default Minky Fleece?

Has anyone heard of Minky? I've seen it online in the fleece section with some great prints but I'm not sure if it will work well for Penny. Any experience or opinions?

"Minky Night Owls"! OMG!!! Just look what you started!!!

I checked out the stuff on http://minkydelight.com/minkyfabrics.html and most of it looks fine - it's described as a "plush, micro-fibre fleece".

I would stay away from the 'looser-thread' fabrics like Minky Marshmallow. I have a blanket similar to this - didn't know it's actualy name was "Minky" - and the fabric is plush and kinda loose...I don't know how to explain but whenever Snarf goes near it, I yank it out of his sight cuz I'm sure a nail would get caught.

But the patterns...and colors...niiiiiiiiiiiice.

i have a couple of the smooth minky blankies & my guys LURVE LURVE LURVE them. especially my guys who don't dig pigloos. i don't use the really textured/bobbly kind though...i think that would be asking for toenail trouble. but the smooth stuff i have is really smooth & flat...& has not caused any problems...even for my kids who grow raptor nails! FWIW.

I have some fabric like the minky dots (I'm not sure if it is the exact brand). its really really soft, but it was a pain to sew! it does kind of fray, so it needs to be properly hemmed or sewn.

Its very silk-like on the back side, so its slippery and easy to mess up if you don't pin the fabric every inch or so (and even then, it slips all over the place).

But I love it and so do my girls. they seem to get more excited when I plop them down on my dotted lap blanket.

Awesome! It's hard to tell on my screen so I went to Hancock's Fabrics today and checked some out. All their fleece and flannel is on sale thru Sun. I bought a couple different designs of flannel and a tan fleece for the backing. But I'm ordering from their website to get some of my favorites. I also went through fabric.com and they have a great selection of Minky by Kaufman called Cuddle Flower Skull that I'm just loving. Digging out the sewing machine this weekend and making liners and sleep sacs. I just hope Penny loves them and doesn't poop too much from the excitement, Lol... Thanks, ladies!
