Default Puppy pee pads?

I just got my hedgehog two days ago and have been so conflicted on what type of bedding for her. The first two I bought were paper shavings and corn litter which I learned on here were not good choices.

Someone recommended I use flannel liners or something so I went out and bought baby blankets to line her cage with. To me they don't seem thick enough so I was wondering if puppy pee pads would be a good idea to keep in her cage?
Any suggestions?

My cage is the super pet cage.
I originally had the care fresh bedding but was told to change it. So I went to Joanns and got 2 yards of 2 different fleeces. I just fold one over and i just use that

FLEECE liners are recommended. FLEECE has a clean edge and you can cut it with scissors and it won't fray or have strings. Fleece can be doubled or tripled over to make it as thick as you want. There are many kinds and weights of fleece. You don't say where you are from, but Joanne's and Walmart have fleece by the yard. You can get fleece blankets and just fold them so they are the desired thickness.

If you are going to use pee pads, use the ones for human babies.

The pet kind are scented, hedgies are too sensitive for anything that is scented.

Also, there have been cases where the hedgie tore into them and the lining was ALL OVER. If they are diggers, they are not safe.

The puppy pee pads are definitely a bad idea. You don't know yet if she's a digger, and if she is, she can definitely get into trouble. Burrowing through the pad, getting a thread wrapped around a foot. Hedgies can lose legs from that thing of trauma. There have been a few horror stories about that. Really, don't risk it. Anything cotton (like those baby blankets) would be a bad idea to line her cage with. I use a baby blanket when I'm holding my Quilly since I can watch her and make sure he doesn't get into trouble.

Fleece by the yard has definitely been the best lining I've used. It's reuseable. Toss it in the washing machine every week or as needed. It's the absolute safest thing for your baby.

If you're worried about cost, you can get really cheap fleece in Walmart clearance bins. I would recommend getting two yards for the bedding (several layers thick) and if you want to make her a dig box/bag, then get another yard or two for that. If you want to make her a snuggle sack, then get yourself another yard or so. (Like this one for example: https://www.hedgehogcentral.com/forum...gie-pouch.html)
