Has anyone ever heard of hedgehogs eating carefresh bedding? I read it somewhere. I just can't remember where. Id like to put it as the bedding. (im a new hedgie owner and it's so much easier to pick him up with bedding instead of fleece. I plan to switch back to fleece once he's used to me.)
Also, I know bedding isn't the best, but is there any bedding that's better than the others?

Instead of using carefresh (which I used to use as well) you could try fleece pieces. Not solid fleece, but pieces. You just cut up the fleece in pieces (I did about an inch by an inch) and use that just like the bedding. It's is practically the same, but without the risks of bedding. Dust, irritation, and the ability to get stuck to sensitive places. I don't know if you have already heard of doing this, but it's what I use on his bottom level where he likes to burrow in his igloo. To clean it you just get a bag for hose at Wal-mart for 97 cents and wash the pieces in it with unscented detergent.

My hedgehog Opal use to try and eat paper products. I used care fresh for like 5mins as litter box stuff cause I had some extra Soon as she started to munch I took it out.
Like bmaditz said you can cut up fleece strips. Personally I just use fleece liners and fleece strips in places like igloos and stuff. :3 Which ever floats your gondola ![]()
