Default Fleece Liners

I need you guy's help.

I just bought a 1 story Critter Nation.

I need fleece liners. I was wondering if someone could direct me to a website that has step-by-step instructions as to how best to make them myself.. OR

a reputable online store that I can pick my colors and have them do the work?

I'm not a very handy person, and anything i do DIY usually is not.... great quality. I would much rather have someone make me my Critter Nation Liners, or at least, have the most descriptive stepwise instructions to use....

Also, Do you think this ramp is going to be okay? It's the ramp that comes with the CN, but the previous owner had this ramp cover on it. She gave it to me (I got it on Craigslist).. but she used something else for her ramp.

Do you think this ramp will be okay or what else can I use as a ramp?? Another DIY project, but I need to be sure she can get up the ramp as I plan to put her food and water up top.

Any help, tips, websites.. would be greatly appreciated!

From what I've heard, if you plan on using a ramp you should make sure it's enclosed so your little one doesn't blunder off of it and hurt themselves. No idea how you'd go about doing that unfortunately.

I'm not handy at all (my dad is a handy man, but I got absolutely none of those genes passed down! ) but had an easy time with fleece liners. All I needed as a tape measure and a pair of scissors. Measured the inside dimensions of the cage, picked out a fleece at the fabric store and had them cut off enough to make 2 or 3 liners, then trimmed them down to size at home. If I can fake my way through it I'm sure anyone can.

Thank you. In regards to an enclosed ramp, wow, I should have thought about that.

I wonder if I bought some of those expandable ferret tunnels, if I could somehow fasten it around the entire ramp, and make it enclosed that way?

I read in a few other threads that people are cutting their fleece pieces 3 or even 6 inches larger than they need to be? Some are putting cotton underneath for a more pillowy feel?

I'm overwhelmed

I could see one of those tubes working, then throw a wall up on the second story so they don't fall.

True, I saw a lot of people had a wall of sorts up there. I'll have to see what they did.

To the craft store I go tomorrow!

I think I'll make the liners the "slip over" kind That way I dont have to attach them to the bars with metal objects.

I will also see if they have sort of padding to put under the liners for a pillowy feel.

I will def. post in the "examples of cages" section when I"m done.

For fleece liners, you can just make it 2+ layers thick for padding. I actually cut mine so when i fold it in half and in half again (four layers thick) it fits the cage. In regards to the ramp, I heard of people using dryer vent tubes. Im sure if you browse the cage section you can find examples I will look and see if I can find any too!

A lot of hedgies refuse to use a 2nd level so hold off putting food and water up there until you know for sure that your little one will actually use it.

OH my. Thank you..

Any tips on how to encourage her to use it?

When she had her first house, when she was a baby, she had a second level with a ramp. That was 2 cages ago (hehe)

She was able to climb up.. but when she got bigger I moved her into a bigger home but 1 level. I wonder if she'll remember?

I'll have to train her by putting her up on the 2nd level and she'll have to figure out how to get down, but she'll also learn that's where her food is.

I'll have to also make sure I enclose the 2nd level so if she doesn't understand the ramp, she won't just... walk off.

Luckily my fleece liners will arrive in a week or more, so I'll have time to iron out the details before I actually move her in.

Thank you for all the advice!!
