Hi there,
I am having trouble finding an answer to my question, so I am sorry if this is a repeat post. My hedgie is in a cage that is just shy of 4 feet long and the 100w CHE I got her is not heating the whole cage. I am going to buy another lamp and another 100w CHE. My question is, if I get the 1000w Zilla thermostat and plug both heaters into it, would I put the lamps on the opposite ends of the cage and the probe in the center of the cage (kind of floating above the center/ground, inside the cage where Zelda can't get it)? Or should I get another 500w thermostat so each side is regulated at proper temperature? Thank you for your help! Erin |

You can just put the probe on one side of the cage and the two CHE's at opposite ends. If one side is being heated the other one will be as well. So both sides should be at the same temperature since the lamps will be on at the same time.

Using a 1000w should be fine - that kind of set up is what I had for Lily's cage and I did exactly what you described. One CHE on either end, probe in the middle. I tried to center the lamps about even distance from each other and from each end of the cage though. I had a couple thermometers that I could put in different areas of the cage and they usually read within a degree or so of each other, so it seemed to work well.

I have a little guy in a similar sized cage. I have a 100w emitter over his igloo, and a 60w over the wheel end. The probe hangs down between the two emitters about 10" from the floor. A thermometer sits on top of the igloo. This works well and keeps the cage at a perfect temperature.
