Angry Please help!!

Hi all,

My hedgehog has a Silent Runner wheel. I am going to get her a Carolina Storm Wheel but it won't come for a while. Her wheel has been thumping and rattling ALL NIGHT LONG and no matter what I try it always is very noisy. Any suggestions? I don't want to take it out, but I can't sleep through the night.

Could you move her into another room? I've found that the Silent Runners rattle with large individuals too (never used them with hogs, but a couple rescue hamsters). I've found placing something heavy on the stand helps (like a ceramic tile, granite, etc - whatever you can find to sit on it!) but it still rattles to some extent.

You might try heating some petroliem jelly (vasoline) up till liquid and dripping some in the bearings and then let cool till solid again before useing. Wipe off any exess before use. You can heat it in a table spoon with a hair drier.

Vaseline or pure petrolium jelly should be close to oderless , I wonder if they maybe used Vicks vaper rub which is petrolium jelly with menthol in it . That can be some strong smelling stuff.

Always test items with a hedgehog before introducing it to their cage to see how they are going to react. And while not the suggestion here, especially on their bodies.

I have had at least a couple that would freak out over the smell of vaseline. It may be odorless to us, but there is something still to it according to them. If I had touched it, or used it on something, the would react.

Ah. I thought you meant Silent Spinner. I hated the Silent Runner that came with my sugar gliders. I ended up tossing it.
