CSBW won't fit in sterilite bin cage

Mango has to have the lid on his bin because he's an escape artist! Especially when the cat is around... which is odd. I recently bought a Carolina Storm Bucket Wheel and it won't fit in his bin with the lid on. Any advice on what I can do? I'm afraid to cut a hole at the top for his wheel since he's so good at climbing/getting out.

could you added some C&C cubes to make a box around where you would have to cut the hole?

What size bin are you using? If you find a larger one, the walls will be higher and you could fit the wheel with a lid, or just cut part of the lid where the wheel sticks out only.

I'll second the question of how large the tub is? If it's large but with low sides, I'd say look into building a sort of "enclosure" to cover where the wheel sticks out, like using wire storage cubes as mentioned. If the tub is small overall, you might just want to buy a bigger one.

I have a 110 Quart bin that I got from Target.

I will into using the C&C for the cutout part of the lid. The 116 Quart, http://www.sterilite.com/SelectProduct. ... &section=1, looks like it's not as big as the 110 Quart in length so I'm worried about him having enough space. I'm thinking maybe I'll just buy the 116 and attach it to the 110 I already have with some PVC pipe and put the wheel/litter pan in the other bin. :3

That sounds good! Having two tubs rather than one is great for providing extra space.

Sophie's 'emergency cage' is a 105 quart Sterilite bin. I've seen some very cool setups with multiple containers connected with PVC pipe. For a variety of reasons, not for me as 'the cage'. As an emergency cage, it is big enough for her CSW wheel (the big one), litter pan and liner, her igloo, food/water dishes, cage liner.

1" hole-saw drill bit to provide ventilation all around. It is quite a lot more work than it looks like. If I did another one, I would cut out most of the top and cover with a mesh.

When the wheel is in place, I put a piece of coroplast in place on one end. It attaches with long twist ties. It can be put on or removed very easily.

I have two fleece 'triangles' to seal off the open area. Small binder clips secure it quickly and well.

Note that I invert the top when the lid is raised. A few more twisties button it down.

Buy a small plastic bin, shoebox size will work. Cut a hole in the top of the cage bin slightly smaller than the shoebox and attach it with zip ties. Sometimes you can find storage trays that are made of mesh. They will work too and don't need to be ventilated.
