Default Wheeling Issue – CSW

Let me start out by saying that my issue is not in the wheel itself. Avery loves her wheel and it works perfectly. My problem is that the wheel shifts when she is using it and it shimmies backwards until it is hitting the side of her cage and making the most God-awful noise. I’ve tried putting the wheel approximately 6 inches from the side and it still moves backwards and hits the side. I’ve made sure that the legs are level and that it sits level in the cage.

Here is my cage setup: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=16680

Please help! I’m sick of waking up thinking there is a helicopter in my room.

Do you have a rubber hammer? If so give the top arm piece a good wack so it's nice and tight. You can use a regular hammer too just place something over the PVC so it won't break when you hammer. Another option would be some finger nail polish around the inside of the tee to make the fit tighter. Hope I understood so this is helpful.

Basically the wheel starts out in one spot and the whole thing shifts backwards. Avery could be pushing it but she has never moved anything in her cage.
It doesn't seem like anything is loose but I'll give it a try this weekend when I have access to a rubber hammer.

If the wheel is moving around like that but the bottom of the stand is staying still then it's the top arm peice that needs to be tightened. I'm sure it will be an easy fix.

Are you saying that the entire thing is sliding across the floor of your cage until it's against the wall, then hitting the wall when Avery wheels?

If that's the case, I suggest velcro. Get a small roll of fabric velcro and a small roll of normal velcro and put a strip down the bottom of each of the PVC pipes that make up the base |__| , then a strip matching each of those on your fleece where the wheel sits.

You could also try to watch Avery wheel and see what exactly is banging around - it could be the back PVC pipe that holds the wheel (that's the part of my wheel that hits the wall of Milly's cage) that's hitting the cube walls. If that's the case, you could try wrapping something around that area or putting duct tape over it to dull the banging noise.

Last but not least, it could be the material that your liner is made of - maybe it's slippery? Although it does look like fleece, so I kind of doubt that lol.

Do you have coroplast walls in your cage now? I'm sure you've read this here at HHC, but exposed wire walls like that can be a climbing accident waiting to happen. 8" coroplast walls are recommended when using a C&C cage (cubes & coroplast lol, makes sense ).

Thanks for the suggestions. If Larry's doesn't work I will give yours a try.
Its hard to tell in the photos but I have 10" wall of plexiglas.
