Default New hedgie owner help

I'm new to the hedgehog world so I'm still learning but should I let my little hedgie sleep until night time or wake her up and let her run around in her play pen. Reminder I just got her a day ago

You can have her out in the day, but do not force her to stay awake. I assume putting her in her play pen will make her find a place to hide and just sleep some more.

If you take her out, give her an option of having a place to sleep (like put a snuggle bag or a blanket she can furrow into and have a nap if she wants). Or hold her on your lap and she might nap on you!

Also, since you just got your baby, you'd probably have to wake her up for bonding/cuddle/playtime anyway. If left alone to sleep, babies usually won't wake up until midnight or later, because they sleep a lot.

It's important to start building a routine as soon as possible, so you start figuring out a time to wake her up - for example, I wake my girl up between 8-9 pm every night. That way your hedgie will be less stressed because she'll know what to expect when you wake her up

Also, since you just got her, I wouldn't try to wake her up during the day. She's still getting used to her new home, plus babies need to sleep a lot. Plus there's a chance she might start quilling soon so she'll be even more grumpy.

Just noticed a typo in my post that I can't edit: I meant to say burrow.

Baby hedgies will sleep a lot. My girl is about five and a half months now, and she still sleeps a lot.
