Default Question for breeders

(I looked to try and find a thread on this but couldn't so I thought i'd make one)

Okay, so when Napoleons babies are ready to leave the nest, I want them to go to the best homes possible. I was wondering what kind of questions the breeders ask potential buyers before determining if they would be a good home for a hedgehog? I already cut and pasted a lot of information from the website (Who am I kidding everything pretty much) and put it all on my computer so I can print it off and let the person read and go through everything before deciding they would like a hedgehog. I also want to be able to talk to them about it and be able to tell them no and for what reasons if I don't think they are suitable for my babies. So, do any breeders have a list of good questions? or ways to rephrase questions? How to say no? Maybe even an adoption paper to fill out?

Default Re: Question for breeders

I have an extensive list of questions for applicant's for my babies, here are some of them.

Also besides knowing their details name and such it is always good to ask if they are getting it as a gift for someone else. Whether the person knows, how old they are etc etc.

Experience owning hedgehogs?

Type of Pet your Hedgehog will be? (Breeding or Pet only)

Are you prepared to care for a hedgehog for its entire life (4+ years)? -

Do you understand that commercial hedgehog foods are not healthy, are potentially life threatening and should not be fed?

Hedgehogs have very specific diet requirements, what will you feed your hedgehog, type/brand?

Hedgehogs require daily handling and interaction to keep them happy and social! Can you provide at least 1 hour of handling and interaction with your hedgehog?

Will you be able to keep a constant temperature between 72-80F in the hedgehog's environment?

Will you be able to maintain 12 - 14hrs of light in the hedgehog's environment?

Will the hedgehog have a heating and lighting source? If yes, please tell me what you plan to use for it.

Do you have the time to clean the hedgehogs’ cage every few days and a complete clean weekly?

Number and type of animals you currently own?

Will you allow your pets to interact with each other?

Number of children currently living in your household?

Ages of children living in your household?

Do you ever plan on breeding your hedgehog?

Are you willing to trim their nails and bathe as needed?

What will you use as bedding for the hedgie?

Will your hedgehog have a shelter to sleep in?
What?

What sort of cage will your hedgehog have, size dimensions?

What vet do you plan on using, are they experienced in hedgehogs? Details of vet?

Do you understand only Revolution should be used in treatment of mites?

Hope that helps.
