I thought my female was preggers. Weight gain, not wanting to be held, eating a ton. The whole 9 yards, but she was due last week and nothin. Left her alone, made it a quiet room, kept it dark. Everything. And still nothing. What's wrong? Could she just not be preggers???

How many days has it been since she was last by a male? I'm not a breeder, but I've read it can take up to 55 days from then.

I am not a breeder. I just calculate durations & dive through the archives for references.

Time & Date calculation: today (November 19th) is 41 days since October 9th.

From the Reproduction section of this website:

As has already been mentioned, the pregnancy will last about 35 days, although some will give birth in as few as 30 days and others have been known go as long as 46. Most, however, will have a normal 34 - 36 day pregnancy. If the female does not give birth by her last expected due date, give her at least another 11 days before assuming that the breeding wasn't successful.

So, that's another 5 days at least.

I'm not finding it right now, but I think someone recently posted about an experience with a ridiculously long gestation period.

Ok so don't hold her and feed her extra healthy for a week and see what happens?? Thanks guys!!!

Nikki handled her mums up until the day they delivered.

Wait at least 55 days. I know a breeder who had a baby born at 70 or so days, it wasn't alive though, but even later dates are possible.

Ok I just put her on a glass plate, I can see her belly is way bigger and I can see a few of her nipples but they are not big or anything.

I had a hedgie that gave birth like after 44 days. She only gave birth to two but quite sizable babies.
