Default Unexpected birth

Please i need help. I got my hedgehog Chiku exactly a month ago, and this morning around 6 am she gave birth to 3 hoglets, and yesterday at her vet first visit, the vet did not mention anything about pregnancy. Around 4pm, when i want to refill her food, i found 2 babies under the fleece and 1 outside the hideout (i made from box only after i found out about the hoglets). And worst thing is i saw blood stain on the base of the box. i wonder if she hurt her babies or maybe discharge after the delivery? Is it normal to have it after almost 10hours?

It could be discharge or blood from a baby. There really isn't any way to know for sure. You need to leave mom and babies completely alone for two weeks. Only go near the cage to give her clean food and water daily. Don't make any changes in the cage, don't add anything else new or take anything out unless she has a wheel. If there is a wheel you need to take it out. You can't clean the cage until the babies are weaned.

Thank you for your advice. I will do as you said to leave them alone for a couple week and see what happen then, because the only vet that can handle hedgehod is 45 minutes drive. On the last visit, she vomitted in our way back so I don't want to stressed her more. I can only pray and hope the best outcome.

More help needed please... Today is the 5th day. I know I am supposed to leave the new mom and her 3 babies alone, but my stubborn husband was so curious he had to take a peek on them, and he told me that chiku is feeding 2 babies. Now I am totally confused and worried. She has 3 babies.
Do all babies feed together at the same time or not? What happened to the other baby? What should I do? Should I try to find it but with the risk I might disturb the mom?

Sometimes babies feed at different times. It could have been sleeping and he didn't see it or it may not have survived. If it didn't survive mom would have cleaned up the body and you wouldn't be able to tell. Don't try to find it. If it's there and just was sleeping you could stress mom and cause the babies to be hurt. If it didn't survive looking for it won't help.

Dear Nikki, thank you for your advice. Only 2 babies survive; they are both male. I named them Haru and Soba. Today, i took Soba out to the garden. He is so happy and looks like he loves to eat moss. Do you think it is ok for him?

Yes he is so adorable. 2 siblings with 2 different personality. Haru is active and playful, while Soba more quiet and love to sleep on my lap.

That's amazing! I'm glad these two survived. It would've been sad if none of the litter survived. Poor mom was probably just as stressed as you. I can't imagine this happening to me. I'd literally panic so hard
