Default Surprise!! Baby Hoglets !

So this is the VERY first time I've ever had a hedgehog and I got my Pickles from a previously owned hedgehog. I came home today and wanted to play with my hedge and saw this really weird looking spiky things and I realized it was a little hoglet !!! SOOO CUTE !

So I don't know what to do... Like AT ALL

I NEED ADVICE !

So far I've removed the wheel from the cage and that is it. Like I mentioned before there is a little hoglet out of the nest and I don't know if I should pick it up with my hands to see if its warm or not.

How should I handle this little hoglet and what should I be doing for the past 2 weeks?

Please be aware that I have absolutely NO hoglet experience so I can only tell you what I have read. The most important thing is that mom and babies remain mostly UNDISTURBED for the first 2 weeks. Hopefully the cage is in a very low traffic area, and all you should be doing with it is replacing food and water every day in a quiet manner. Some breeders like to talk gently to mom while they are doing this. A lot of breeders also add in a little Royal Canin Kitten or Baby Cat to the food for mom for added fat.
Taking the wheel out is good. Hopefully your hedge happened to be on shavings/carefresh of some sort, as you won't be able to change the bedding until the babies are weaned and it might get very stinky.
As for the lone hoglet, I would wait for a breeder's advice. Hopefully mom will go get him and bring him back to the nest. Sorry I can't be more help ): Good luck!

My hedgehog's cage is in the living room where me and my boyfriend have our work desk, should I move the cage to somewhere more quiet?
But thank you =)

I hope my Pickles won't eat her baby I will cry if I see any.

My new granny heart won't be able to handle it ! D:

I agree with coribelle, surprise babies seems like a huge stress! Makes me kinda glad Squiggy is a boy haha. If you can get her to a quieter room without disturbing her too much then that would help lower mamas stress. As for the baby, some use a spoon to pick up the baby and put it back in the nest. Does she have an igloo or some kind of shelter for her and the babies?

It's almost been an entire day now! Pickles mommy didn't come and rescue the little lost hoglet =(
I did hear Pickles come out in the middle of the night to eat a little bit of her food, should I try to take the baby and let her back into the nest or will Pickles eat the little hoglet?

Her nest right now is just an old shirt I'm debating if I should leave some tissue bits in her cage as well. Would you recommend to do so?

Please wait to move the cage or anything else until you get some advice from a breeder. I'm not a breeder either, but I will say as far as the baby that's not in the nest, I have seen Nancy and Nikki both say that if you move a wayward baby back to the nest, you should use your hands and warm the baby up before moving it back in. But again, wait for a breeder before doing any drastic changes. Hopefully one will be along soon to offer more advice.

You have 6 hrs before the baby is to weak pick.it up and put it in the nest the problem with a spoon is it can chill the already chilled baby. The mom knows you just get the lil guy in the nest... It needs to eat its first meal soon she mite not comebout becausebodds are theirs some in the nest. I would put some of her bedding in my hand for a sec then emptyhand grab baby and put it in the nest. Sometimes moms are focused on the ones in the nest.

The problem is the little lost hoglet is on top of the nest which is just an old shirt. Should I still just pick the lost one with my hands and warming her up with my skin? I think there is a little entrance way of the shirt where Pickles mommy came out to eat last night.

I usually feed my hedgehog this dry cat food called Orijen, I do also feed her meal worms from time to time and Pickles mommy is about 11 months old now.

I've picked up the little hoglet and she's very cold, how long should I hold her for?
