I currently have a female hedgie living with her daughter who is about 6 months old. Theyre in a 2 level c & c cage I can add pics if necessary Theres two of everything in the cage although they often still choose to sleep together about 60% of the time. I was wondering if I was to breed my original female again, but not the daughter, could the two live together. I've seen a few people say that two females who are bred at the same time can live together and they both end up taking good care of the babies, but I wasn't sure if that would change if one of the females isn't actually pregnant/ having babies. I don't want to take any risks, but did want them to be able to live together if I breed them both at the same time in the future. Opinions and personal experience would be greatly appreciated!!

No, mothers need their own cage.

No they can't. Mothers need their own cage separate from each other.

You cant leave two pregnant females together. They could kill there own babies from having the stress of another hedgehog in the cage and also, if you leave a pregnant female in with another hedgehog she could become really aggressive to the other hedgehog the closer she gets to her due date. All mothers need there own separate space. Hedgehogs will not get depressed if separated. I believe mice stick together as a colony when raising young, the mothers all stick together but hedgehogs are completely solitary and they don't need the company of another hedgehog to be happy. If you are planning on breeding her make sure you have her pedigree and the pedigree of the male to prevent WHS.
