Unhappy Linebreeding

I know line-breeding is a controversial subject. However, there are times when to capture specific genes, it may be appropriate to practice it...with a bit of care. What are some of the guidelines to line-breeding? I know that Hedgehog Central says that they should not share grandparents, but what if one hedgehog's grandfather is another hedgehog's great grandfather? Is that too close? What if they share Great grandparents? I guess I'm wondering how close is too close?

Honestly, I would find another unrelated hedgehog with desirable traits to breed with. Line breeding can concentrate good faults, but it can also concentrate the bad ones. It's kind of like playing with fire. If you HAD to line breed I'd say don't let them share less than and including great grandparents.

I wouldn't do it but know people that do. Like the person above said, I'd just find an unrelated one that had the good traits you want and helps fix the bad traits in your current one. And vice versa.

As for locking in traits, it will lock in good traits, but it will also lock in bad traits.

When line breeding you want to breed to a great grand child I've never done it but that's what I've been told.
