Default Special treatment for expecting mothers..

I am just curious as to what some of the more experienced breeders do to provide special treatment for their expecting mothers, if any. Diet changes, additions, subtractions, environment changes, etc. Being a dog breeder who is new to breeding hedgehogs, I know I jump through hoops when I have a doggy mama who is expecting. Any tips or tricks that would improve the health of mommy and babies would be appreciated. I know many people have different opinions and it would certainly be interesting to hear them!

I like to add kitten food to my moms mix for the added fat, I like to give extra mealies too. I remove the wheel from the cage like 2 weeks before the expected delivery date and I do not put the wheel back till babies have weaned.

Yes, I suppose the wheeling would defeat the purpose of adding extra fat. I can also just see mama wheeling away and forgetting about hthe poor babies! lol I do believe some of them really get that into it!
