So after a whole month I woke up to my hedgie giving birth to 5 healthy babies today but my parents and grandparents were too excited so they were making so much noise around it saying 'awww' and stuff like that. Now I see that 1 of the babies is kind of being ignored. The baby is about 3 inches away from the mother unlike it's siblings. Has she given up on that one or what?

Possibly not. Nobody should be in the room where she is or around the cage. If she gets stressed, she will take it out on the babies.

Make sure you leave her completely alone! This is crucial to the litters survival. Dont peek! You should only be in her cage to change her food/water. Did she have them out in the open or is she in a nest box? No matter how quiet you think you may be she will always know if your there so give her as much space as possible.

Help! Is it possible my girl is pregnant or had a miscarriage?
This little girl has had a variety of personalities in the past week or two. I was woken one night with her barking softly, chirping the next, puffing, “purring” etc the days after and then today I noticed light blood spots all around and on her pet liner. She is currently housed in a oversized plastic bin with care fresh and pet liner (that has been ripped up.) I had a dark fleece in her home (that I removed for viewing purposes only). I can now see her activity or lack of from her clear habitat. I did notice her drinking water. She is a rescue and normally huffs and puffs, but these past few days she appears remarkably content. I am anxious for I do not want to disturb this mama (if she is one) yet I do not want to ignore her with the progress that she has made with her trust issues! Any advice will be appreciated |

any time there is blood, you need to take them to the vet. |
