Default Mom left the nest

We have six babies that are 10 days old. Mom has been doing a great job at nursing until last night. When we came home, I found her sleeping in the corner, outside of the nest. She was still there two hours later when I went to bed. It was a little concerning because I had never seen her do this before. Then, when I woke up, I went to check on her (about 5 hours later). She was still in the corner (awake). She had eaten some food and drank some water and seems to be acting "normal." Of course, I assumed she had been there all night - but I don't know for sure. I could hear the babies moving around in the box. I didn't know what to do, so I tried to coax her back toward the nest. She huffed and hissed, but when she calmed down, she walked back inside the box. I wasn't sure if this was normal behavior for the mom to leave the nest for that long. I know the babies need to eat often, so I was very concerned.

If the babies weren't squeaking then she had been going to feed them when needed. Many moms feel the need to take a break from the babies at times. The babies will squeak when they get hungry and she will go back and feed them. They don't need her with them all the time to keep them warm as they are starting to regulate their own body temperature now. I had one mom that would sleep right outside the nest and block the entrance with her bum as the babies got older, so they couldn't come out and bug

Its common for mothers to sit outside the hut. One of my two females that I breed sits outside the hut whenever she has a litter.
