Am I the only one that found it questionable the male or males aren't mentioned at all? No, I'm not talking about on the babies but yes that's questionable in itself. She shows females and says where they came from, but no mention of the breeding male. Makes you wonder if there is a reason for the missing information.

That's a ridiculous excuse. There is never only one copy of a pedigree. Breeders print them out, send them to other breeders, the breeders they got the hedgehogs from have copies, there are always more than one copy.

LOL now she updated the website to "explain" why they don't have pedigrees and that she "barrowed" a male that she bred her females with.

So she looked at a computer that was crashed? Does she even know what she was looking for? A buyer can trust her the baby will not get WHS or any illness?

This is funny in a sad "your comical negligence and willful ignorance will lead to the death of your pets and their offspring" sort of way. It's also sad that they have so little regard for the lives of animals. What kind of monster forces animals to mate when it's not in their best interest?

I have to admit I laughed at the "any illness" bit. Sign me up for a hedgehog that will never get sick. Sounds like a good deal!

KatieTheHedge, if you're still reading this thread, please know that no one is actively trying to be mean. Everyone here loves hedgehogs. A lot. I'm guessing you do too, or you wouldn't want to be doing any of this. All of these comments are because we're frustrated that you are refusing to listen to what anyone says if it doesn't go along with what you want to do. And what you want to do is not in the best interest of hedgehogs - your breeding hedgehogs or their babies. That is what we have a problem with. You can't convince us that you should breed - you've already shown that you really shouldn't. Really, all we want is for you to stop trying to force this entire situation. You and your sister need to stop breeding hedgehogs that you can't 100% be sure are breeding quality, stop trying to run a business that takes a LOT of work, worry, and stress, even for an adult, and just enjoy your hedgehogs. Later, when you're able to do it right, this forum would love to help you both become responsible, wonderful breeders that we would be happy to recommend to people. But for now, you are not, you have very little chance of becoming one, and you will not find support on here unless you're willing to take a step back and listen to what people are telling you.

I know none of this may change your mind and you may completely ignore this. You may have already given up on reading this thread, even. But I just wanted to give one more sincere try at making you understand where we're coming from. If you ignore me, then fine. I give up, I feel bad for your future babies, and I hope things go better than I expect that they will. Know that this forum will be here for when/if you ever decide to do things right. We are not against breeders here - only breeders that refuse to listen to advice or go about things responsibly & ethically.

I think it's hilarious that they put:

Quote:
Some of our girls don’t have pedigrees because right when we were bringing them home the breeder told us her computer crashed and she lost the pedigrees. I did look through them before it crashed and they both have clean bloodlines. And so do the dads that we will own and barrow. Please know and trust that they will not get WHS or any illness.
A knowledgeable buyer would have already turned their backs on these self-proclaimed "breeders". But then they pretty much say "hey we lost the thing that says it'll have good health, just trust us ok? WHS is a thing they won't get, 4srs", which means buyers who don't know about WHS or pedigrees will be like "oh what's that thing they don't have", look it up, and then realize they shouldn't buy from these girls LOL.

After a good nights sleep one thing bothers me more about the breeding thing. The mom side is in full force.
Please in the future be cautious on what you say online. If you do in fact work where you say you do, you put yourself at risk. That is personal enough that someone could find you if they chose to do so.
Please the mom in me is screaming about this. Before you click the post quick reply button, double check to make sure you aren't putting your safety at risk with information in a post or in combined posts.

Quite true. Look at how quickly I figured out the area where she probably lives, the vet clinic where she takes her animals, and the exact shop where she claims to work. All it took was one mention of the generalized/abbreviated name of the clinic. It took all of 2 minutes. And thanks to another member seeing her post all over Facebook (remember when the number one rule was to not give out your full name or even your real name?), I also know her full name and her age.

Thankfully, I'm an upstanding citizen. But what if I wasn't? Frankly, her parents should be terrified.

(Note: Will a mod or admin please edit my previous post to remove the direct link to the shop where this child claims to work? In hindsight, it was irresponsible of me to include it. Feel free to add a note that anyone who does want to contact the shop may PM me for contact information. I do want people to be able to voice their concerns, but I don't necessarily want anyone with a computer to have the ability to follow my link and track down a child. You never know who is out there. Thanks.)

Good points, guys. I noticed she was using her mom's Facebook page for posting on the hedgehog groups on there. I'm holding out hope that maybe they'll notice what's going on on here. Hopefully they'll see your comments (or she will) & take steps to make this situation a little safer. And Mel, I removed the link from your post.
