Default Complete novice qstn: do face markings change?

I've seen that there many color variations/names for hedgehogs. And I read that their coloring can't be determined until after 9 weeks (after that quilling).
But does that only apply to the possible change in quill coloring?

The fur on the face I assume doesn't change?? So if a baby has an all white face or has dark markings in certain parts of the face, will that remain unchanged?

Also, can the quills change drastically? For instance, if the baby's quills are banded, is it more likely that the new ones will banded (but maybe different variation)?

Yep! Was kinda bummed that Harvey lost some of his color as he "aged". When he was a baby, his face was super dark and his spike makeup made him appear a little darker than he is now.

A few months old

Over a year old

Aah. I see how his markings did indeed fade. They didn't completely change as in having different markings, just faded.

thanks

I cannot find the photos now, but I had a 7 week old baby who had a dark mask and nose. As he grew up his nose became pink. Was quite a surprise.
