Unhappy changing color??

My hedgie is about 4 months old

The majority of her quills are a blonde color with a golden root. I gave her a bath today and after I noticed that she seemed to have some areas in the back & sides of her that were solely white...the areas look new; they definitely were not there prior. I just wanted to ask around and see if anyone could maybe explain whats going on? Is she quilling or something else? She has been sort of hostile today and yesterday but I thought maybe she just wasnt happy about her bath lol.

The guideline for quilling is about 6, 9, and 12 weeks, but not all hogs are the same. My hog Milly quilled at around 3.5 months old in addition to the 6, 9, and 12 weeks (and she quilled from 7 to 12 weeks). Quilling can change a hedgie's color dramatically. Milly started off with fairly dark brown quills with pinto spots. Now she is a lighter brown and all of her banded quills end in a white tip - she is so much lighter that you can barely see her pinto spots since they blend in so well.

The most dramatic color change is usually at the 9 week quilling, but hedgehogs can change color after that as well - and like hanhan27 said, sometimes they'll go through quilling at different times or after 12 weeks. You can tell whether she's quilling by looking closely at her skin to see if there are any quills poking up out of it. Sometimes they'll appear as just little tips showing through, and sometimes they'll be pretty much full-length, but you can tell whether the longer ones are new quills by whether they attach to the skin by the very tip (which allows for them to be angled in all different directions when the hedgehog prickles or balls up) or whether they're embedded at a wider section of the quill; the latter won't be able to go in different directions, so they'll still be angled backward/laying down even when the hedgehog prickles.

It's also possible that it's kind of an optical illusion. Sometimes the white parts of quills will rest against each other in just the right way to make the white more dominant in a certain area. Even if those sections of quills are now entirely white, it's not pinto spots unless the skin underneath them lacks pigment; and if those areas had colored/banded quills before, pintoism isn't possible there. Pretty much all hedgehogs have some number of completely white, unbanded quills, usually dispersed evenly - but sometimes they'll happen more in little clusters.
