Default Skullmageddon: Notes for prosperity

Tomorrow it will be three weeks since little Skullmageddon came into my life. So far He has been a wonderful addition, bringing me both joy and wisdom. I have learned a few things about him. These notes are for myself and fellow hedgehog lovers, in the hope of better understanding the behavior of hedgehogs.
  • He doesn't like the picking up process, or the being woken up process. on the whole being woken up makes him very irritable.
  • He seems to bite at fingers, or if he's under blankets ,sometimes he will just got for bare skin. Not every time however, he will sleep on my bare arms and I can pick him up and he doesn't bite me. Just if something wakes him up and there is bare flesh.
  • If he is awake and exploring under blankets and finds bare flesh most of the time he will bite.
  • Biting is just one of the ways he has learned to communicate. I need to teach him that it won't get him what he wants by not putting him down.
  • He wakes up quite a bit after a full bath.
  • He loves to snuggle in a nice warm place, and my armpit is one of them.
  • Its best to scrub his little feet during foot baths with a tooth brush. Its also a good idea to scrub his quills. If I don't scrub his quills I get irritated skin from his quill pricks. His quills get yuck on them during his wheel running and nightly playing and thats what is irritating my skin. So long as I give him a scrub and keep him dry and warm it doesn't bother my skin when he pokes it.
  • He is a good snuggle buddy and reminds me that lots of people are afraid too and most don't get to ball up and spike.
