Hi everyone!
![]() I just would like to know whats your hedgies favorite food to eat, or funny food stories. On a side note, I'm having a hard time with Stitch. All he loves to eat is chicken and beef for a daily treat as he looks forward to it, I've tryed feeding him greens and he wouldn't take it ![]() |

All My hedgehogs love scrambled eggs and as such each week I make a new mix the ones I have tried and all been hits are:
Scrambled [Booster] Eggs w/ Veal
Scrambled Sweet Potato [Booster] Eggs w/ Green Peppers
Scrambled [Booster] Eggs w/ Chicken and Green Peppers
Another popular thing I haven't done in awhile is taking Ground Chicken or Turkey and making meat balls and hiding veggies in the meat they usually eat them ![]() |

i mix a jar of chicken baby food (or turkey) with a jar of sweet potatoes and freeze them in individual portions to thaw for them, sometime we mix it with chopped steamed fresh broccoli and they go bananas for it!
cooked carrots have also been a hit, and baby food banana occasionally with mixed results. i used to feed bunny gerber meat sticks when she would get sick to help keep her weight on and she liked it, but i had to peel them because even mushed up she would pick out the skin. hammy loved meal worms, but lulabelle and peach won't touch them no matter how much coaxing so i quit stocking them. but now that we have lady we are going to try them again soon.

Norman only considered meal worms, chicken, and turkey as treats. Any fruits or vegetables don't even register as "food" and his little nose just passes right over them.

*sigh* Let me think... Carlos has self-anointed with chicken, and cilantro, and lettuce, and spinach... he has completely ignored hard-boiled egg and peeled apple, and watermelon, and cantaloupe... oh and I'm pretty sure he's anointed with banana while my back was turned, and ignored that ever since as well.
He doesn't eat ANY treats! He either ignores them completely or spits them all over his quills and then ignores them completely! ![]() Fun stories though! When I tried chicken for the first time, I had only had him for a day or two. When he was anointing with it, I was holding him in my hand, and he was so preoccupied with spitting in his quills, I got to touch his soft white tummy fur and rub his cheek for the first time! I was pretty stoked ![]() And, the time with the cilantro, he had a really gross shade of green stained on his quills for like a week, all the way until I gave him a bath ![]()

Lily's favorites include mealworms, crickets, plain cooked chicken, watermelon, cantaloupe, peas baby food, and Wellness Healthy Indulgence packs. She gets mealworms and crickets every night, getting more mealworms right now since I'm trying to get weight back on her. I usually give her a tablespoon of mixed baby foods (at least one meat, one fruit, and a few different veggies) a night, but since she's lost a ton of weight from being sick lately, she's not getting that right now. Instead, she's getting 4-5 chunks of meat from a package of Wellness Healthy Indulgence. I highly recommend those for people with hedgies who like meat, they're great. Good ingredients, little chunks of meat in gravy (I cut them in half for Lily since she eats them so fast, I don't want her to choke), and you can easily store them in the fridge in a plastic container or freeze them and thaw them out each night.
With the baby food, I've tried several mixes, I don't really remember what was in each of them. I usually have either chicken or turkey for the meat (or use wet cat food and mix it in with the baby foods), sweet potatoes, peas, green beans, and maybe something like broccoli/carrots, and then a random fruit. After trying just one baby food at a time for awhile and not having any success getting her to eat any veggie ones other than peas and sometimes green beans, I started mixing them together with a meat, which got her to eat most/all of the mix, and get her veggies. She doesn't have much interest in fresh veggies or most fresh fruits other than melons. I know other people have had good success with different berries, like strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries, but Lily turns her nose up at all of them. So I call her a "melon hog" instead of a "berry hog". ![]()

Well, Delia likes blueberries. Actually, it's pretty funny, sometimes she's anoint with them and end up with blue quills, just like Sonic!
And strawberries turned her pink. Too cute! She's anointed with a lot of things. That's pretty much the only treat she's been receptive to, though (the blueberries). Aside from that one time when she snuck into my purse and nibbled off a little piece of every. last. piece of gum. I owned. I swear, you turn your back for one second and she's all up in trouble. ![]()
