Default Wheel Trouble

My wee hedgie has stopped running on her wheel, She used to run on it every night but she hasn't been on it in the past week or two. I'm getting worried as it means she isn't getting enough exercise. Does anyone have any advice?

I am guessing that she runs in it while your asleep at night. I'm sure someone else will come along with more help

What kind of wheel do you have? Do you know what the temperature of the cage is? Do you have a light schedule for her? If the wheel isn't tipping or wobbly, the temperature is safe, and she has a 12-14 hour light schedule, I would check and see if there's any light disturbing her at night - many hedgehogs won't run as much or at all if there's even a little bit of light in their room, perhaps from a street light coming through the window, a night light, etc. If you can't find anything that's different or off at all that might be causing it, it might be time for a vet visit if she doesn't start again soon.

I noticed my guy wasn't running much either. Turn out, the night lite in the room was bugging him. I covered the cage in a blanket and viola... running up a storm.

Put a tiny bit of flour on the wheel at night. If your hedgie is running, the flour will be gone or you'll see footprints. Good way to see.
