Default first few weeks of bonding

Im getting my hedgie in a couple of weeks and i know that eeryone in my house is going to want to hold it when we get him but im worried about bonding. Will it confuse him to be around so many people initially? Shouldi be the only one to hold it for the first week? Also my boyfriend will be her babysitter, is it ok to put a peice of his shirt in her cage along with mine or will the two scents confuse her? TIA

Hi there congrats on ur hedgie exciting stuff huh?
You should leave the hedgie to settle in for the first night after u bring him home. He will probably be stressed from the journey and is new to the environment and smells After that see how he gets on before letting too many people scare him !!

When I got my hedgehog, he was fine, he did not ball or huff, but thats because the breeder made sure he was handled with daily and therefore used to it!
I know its hard to stop urself from taking him out and playing with him on his first night so if you do, it wouldnt be the worse thing in the world (personally I did haha But I have played with my hedgie before he came home to us). Good luck xxx

Definitely try to leave him alone on the first night, so that he can get accustomed to his enclosure and feel safe there. The second night, I would try not to stress him out too much and just handle him yourself or just you and your boyfriend. If he seems okay, you can try introducing him to other people after a few days, but I would stick to just one or two people at a time.
