Arrow Tubby Tubby Gunther or Lazy Lazy...

Gunther is a super active hedgie...if I am holding him. He loves to crawl all over me, up my shoulders, nuzzle in my hair. But if i put him in his play pen, nothing...he balls up and just sits there. The only thing he really does in his cage to is eat, drink and sleep. Now,... Gunther is a little in the pudgey side and we were instructed to lose weight, so I am trying to give him as many opportunities to exersices as possible. And yes the play pen was in a nice sucluted, quiet part of the house...I thought the noise of my kids might have made him ball up.

Yes, he has a wheel, but I'm not real sure if he uses it.

What kind of wheel do you have? It should have a solid running surface and there usually is evidence of use (poop lol). If you have a proper wheel trying putting some treats on the wheel like a mealie to entice him on it. Maybe he doesn't know what it is lol.

that's a tough one try crickets on the wheel ones that can't move (we freeze ours). They're lower in fat than mealies. Once you get him using the wheel he should drop some weight. I'm sure someone else will offer good advice as well. Good luck and keep us posted.
