Default litterbox?

when i first got my hedgehog, it crawld undr the gap under her wheel. it was cute, but i bought an editable log for her to use as a home. so i went out and bought a flexable wooden platform and set it up, and she moved right in

but given the addition of this "second home", i now have no idea where to put a litter box. should i remove the edible log-shaped thingy? she occationally sleeps in it, and plays with it(and pees in it)- so how important is a litter box?

and on a side note, what kinds of toys should i get her? shes about 9 weeks, and i heard that toilet paper rolls r good....at 3 monthes?

Is the edible log this:

If so you really should use it, it can harbor mites. really anything with wood can. Plastic and fleece are much better. And besides hedgehogs aren't rodents they don't need to chew to keep their teeth down. Toilet paper rolls are good. Just cut a line down the side and round off the corners.

should = should not*

Kely is right wooden toys and housing can harbor mites which in turn makes for a bad experience for a hedgehog and their owner along with a vet visit for revolution to cure it.

Aww crap.

K, I threw out the log thingy.....but now that bed thingy is a problem....its a series of twigs held together by flexable wire (alot like this, only not colored ; http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.j ... Id=2753325 )

Do I gotta get rid of that too? I just wanna do whats best for my hedgie...

I would and then hit up your local Lowes or Home Depot or equivalent Hard ware store for some PVE pipes 3" and 4" in size.

4" is more spacious however as long as you don't have a really big hedgehog my girl Celeste likes the secure feeling of being kind of squished and loves her 3" pipe some elbow Pipes of PVC are great too ^.^

For a home a medium size igloo is wonderful or you can make a nice home from a plastic shoe box and adding a hole they can get into it
